Our Bungalows

Beachfront Living

Jou-Suba Homestay offers five private bungalows set directly along the beach, carefully spaced to maintain privacy and uninterrupted views across the ocean. With no neighbouring villages or developments, each bungalow feels quietly connected to the island and the sea.

The layout keeps the atmosphere relaxed and uncrowded, allowing guests to enjoy the shoreline, the water, and the surrounding nature without feeling overlooked or rushed.

The Bungalows

Built in a traditional island style, each bungalow is simple, spacious, and designed to work with the natural environment. Large openings allow sea breezes to flow through, keeping the space cool and comfortable throughout the day.

Inside, raised beds with high-quality mattresses provide a restful night’s sleep after long hours in the water. Private verandas offer a shaded place to sit, read, or watch the changing colours of the sea.

Mosquito nets are provided on all beds, and sea breezes help keep evenings comfortable.

Who it Suits

Jou-Suba’s bungalows are well suited to couples, solo travellers, and friends travelling together who value nature, quiet, and authenticity over polished luxury finishes. It’s a place for travellers who appreciate simplicity, personal space, and the rhythm of island life.

Those seeking five-star resort amenities may find Raja Ampat challenging — but for guests drawn to raw beauty and meaningful experiences, the setting feels just right.

Facilities

Bathroom facilities are shared and maintained with care. Both western-style and traditional options are available, reflecting everyday island life. There is a shower and fresh water is provided for mandi bathing, and facilities are cleaned regularly to ensure comfort throughout your stay.

The setup is practical, straightforward, and in keeping with the remote nature of the island.

Dining

All stays include three home-cooked meals each day, prepared by Ferdinan and his family using fresh, local ingredients. Meals typically feature freshly caught fish, rice, vegetables, and tropical fruit, with flavours influenced by Papuan and Indonesian cuisine.

Breakfasts and handmade afternoon snacks are often a highlight for guests. From warm donuts to local sweets, these small daily rituals add to the feeling of being welcomed into island life rather than simply accommodated.

Dining at Jousuba isn’t about menus or set times — it’s about sharing good food, slowing down, and enjoying the simple pleasure of eating by the sea.
